Unity of Beaverton Joyfully Welcomes...

What a treat!  This Sunday, September 5th, Unity of Beaverton welcomes a very special guest, Bukeka Shoals. 

Critics and fans agree.  Bukeka Shoals is Transcendent.  Bukeka, lauded as a nationally recognized singer, songwriter and speaker, touches the souls of audiences of all ages and backgrounds.  With the release of her second CD, Spirit is Alive!, her music once again soars, lifting spirits and creating hope.

“To me, music and message go hand in hand,” Bukeka declares.  “My music is not just about my experience, but it’s about the human experience.”  This is probably best illustrated by her song  Everyday Superhero.  Not for one moment do we as individuals escape the opportunity to touch the lives of others.  It is a reminder that only you can be the change you want to see in the world.

It's time to sign-up for your desired “Celebration Circle” (or family group) beginning this Sunday.    This is a six-week commitment we hope you will make to attend a chosen small group to discuss questions and follow exercises taken from Rev. Jim Rosemergy’s book, Even Mystics Have Bills to Pay:  Balancing a Spiritual Life and Earthly Living.  Each Celebration Circle (or family group) will meet in a selected location, at the same time and with the same people each week for two hours.  Sign-ups for day and evening sessions are available for your scheduling ease. These circles are designed to deepen our individual commitment to Spirit & Self, integrate the weekly worship message, and strengthen our community connections by living ‘on purpose’ together.   

Noted Portland Vocalist Becomes Our Choir Director

The woman walks into a room and gets a standing ovation.  Deservedly so.    Why?  Because recording artist, actress and director, Julianne Johnson has thrilled audiences in the Northwest as well as internationally for more than 25 years.  Better yet, Julianne has blessed our spiritual community by accepting the position as Choir Director for the upcoming 2010-2011 season and beyond.

She has been featured on numerous philanthropic CD projects and received the
2003 Father Thomas Oddo Community Service from the University of Portland for her work with The American Cancer Society, Oregon Food Bank, Race for the Cure and many more.  Julianne has been featured on KATU TV’s AM Northwest morning show and Channel 12’s Good Day Oregon show.

And you can often find her in close proximity to our very own Michael Allen Harrison.  Together, they recently released a CD project labeled “Easy”.  Julianne holds a Degree in Fine Arts and teaches at Portland  Community College.
