What a Great Day at Unity of Beaverton!

Once in a while God issues a challenge just to see our grit! What began as a fun and funky fundraiser for our Youth of Unity summer events prompted smiles two weeks ago with the anticipation of two of our church leaders laying a smooch on the snout of an adorable piglet. Then came the discovery.

Sometime during the two-week event, a significant amount of money went missing from our Mason Jars. The loss was doubled by the fact that Unity would provide matching funds for monies raised. So, when the first Sunday service opened, nearly empty coffers were bolstered by the knowledge that good would come from our loss.

And, once again, we manifested our own abundance! First, Rev. Debbie’s message was made for the occasion. Her final message "You Are The Difference!" in her eight-week series became a call to action and the congregation responded without hesitation. As church leaders handed out blue “Who I Am Makes A Difference” ribbons and encouraged parishioners to pay it forward, one anonymous member offered to make up the difference in lost funds to ensure that Unity of Beaverton would be there to support our kids.

With matching funds, we raised nearly $500.00 for Y.O.U. activities. And a special thanks to Rev. Debbie and Tarisa Diebel (shown above) for taking one on the chin as fund drive winners. Oh…and to quell the rumor…we didn’t serve ham sandwiches after the ceremonies.

New Family Welcome

The First Sunday of Every Month...

Is your family new to Unity of Beaverton? If so, we'd like to extend a very special welcome and orientation. All new families are cordially invited to meet our Youth Ed Director, Joyce Swift, PhD for approximately one hour on the first Sunday of feach month immediately after the 11:00 am service.

Learn more about the youth curriculum, activities and program. It's a great time to ask questions, offer comments and meet other new Unity of Beaverton families. So drop in...no pre-registration is required. We'll even serve a light lunch and provide childcare.

Stay-N-Play

Free Parent Co-op Childcare Every First Sunday

Don't forget the first Sunday of every month, UoB's Youth Ed is offering a monthly parent co-op to provide childcare for youth which means a a free afternoon for parents! Pre-registration IS required for all but new families attending the concurrent "New Parent Welcome and Orientation".

How does it work? Bring your children to church with a sack lunch from home for this "win-win" experience. Parents will sign up to take turns helping provide supervision. you can volunteer by contacting Joyce Swift anytime during the month of November for the next event which takes place December 6th.
